SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday withdrew 790 posts from divisional commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu nearly four years after they were referred to them for selection.

The General Administration Department today cancelled the selection process initiated by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for these posts.

“The Divisional Commissioners shall return these posts to the concerned Administrative Departments immediately which shall refer these posts to the General Administration Department for their further referral to J&K Services Selection Board after ascertaining the availability of vacancies as on date and seeking prior concurrence of the Finance Department as mandated in terms of Government Order No. 1136-GAD of 2018 dated 12.07.2018,” reads the order.

In 2016, the government had referred 510 posts to divisional commissioner Kashmir and 280 posts to divisional commissioner Jammu for selection through open competition.

The move comes after both the divisional commissioners repeatedly expressed their inability to conclude the selection process “keeping in consideration various shortcomings in the selection process as also the delay in concluding the process.”

“After issuance of the advertisement for above referred posts, no further progress was made by the concerned selection authorities and the process has remained inconclusive till date,” reads the order.
