In J&K, schools to reopen in ‘staggered manner’

SRINAGAR — Government on Monday ordered the opening of all schools in Kashmir Valley in a staggered manner from next month. While schools from classes 9th to 12th shall open from March 1, the elementary schools have been ordered to open for students from March 8.

“In continuation of Government Order (No. 19-Edu of 2021; Dated: 22-1-2021), it is hereby ordered that all government educational institutions including recognized private schools shall physically open in a staggered manner for academic activities wherein schools of Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division for Class 9th to 12th will function from March 01, 2021,” reads the order by Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, B K Singh.

“In case of elementary classes up to Class 8th, teachers shall attend the schools from March 01, 2021 for preparation and students shall physically attend classes with effect from from March 08, 2021,” it reads further, adding, “Notified Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) guidelines shall remain unaltered and shall be followed in letter and spirit.”

Principal Sainik School Nagrota Jammu, the order said, shall follow advisory of Ministry of Defence, GoI, dated February 8 for re-opening of the school.
