Schools to reopen on Monday for classes 6th to 8th

SRINAGAR — The government on Saturday said only upper primary schools will reopen on March 8 while the primary schools are rescheduled to reopen from March 15.

Top officials of the School Education Department said that only upper primary schools will reopen on Monday.

In an order issued by the School Education Department, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Muhammad Younis Malik said, “It is hereby ordered that the government educational institutions including recognized private schools shall open physically in a staggered manner for academic activities.”

“The educational institutions of Class 6 to 8 will reopen with immediate effect from March 8 and the primary classes up to 5th standard will reopen on March 15 respectively,” it reads.

Earlier, the schools across Kashmir division were scheduled to reopen from March 1; however, the government later said that only secondary classes will reopen from March 1.

Earlier this week, the School Education Department constituted a four-tier COVID-19 monitoring team to make certain observance of prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in schools.
