New SKIMS Director foresees rapid recovery for premier Kashmir health facility

SRINAGAR — Director SKIMS Soura, Dr Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie on Saturday said that the valley’s premier health facility will rebound and is going to be on track within a year.

Dr. Prof. Ganie, while talking to the news agency CNS, said that everyone was talking about the SKIMS Soura’s functioning taking a hit. “But my thinking on it is different. What I think is that if someone runs, he takes a few steps back for a large leap. Similarly, our institute has slightly dipped…if the work culture is improved a bit besides some support from administration, public and media, then this health institute will reach the pinnacle not only in the country but in the world,” he said.

He was also optimistic about bringing changes in the hospital, which, as per him, will bounce back in a period of one year.

As Dr Prof. Ganie was appointed Director SKIMS Soura some days back, he said there is need for him to understand things first related to the hospital and will accordingly figure out solutions for any existing problems.

He said that the institute would also conduct two programmes in a month among which one will be on health awareness, to be attended by the hospital’s expert doctors, who are going to inform the people and patients about any particular or general disease.

In another programme, Director SKIMS Soura said that he will take part in it besides other officials, including Medical Superintendent, Additional Director, Dean and other important officials to receive feedback from the people, especially patients and attendants, for understanding how to improve the health-care facilities and transforming the institute into patient-friendly.
