SRINAGAR — In a significant decision, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said the Narendra Modi-led central government has decided to stop its share of eastern river waters flowing to Pakistan in the wake of the deadly Pulwama terror attack.

“Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Sri Narendra Modi ji, our government has decided to stop our share of water which used to flow to Pakistan. We will divert water from Eastern rivers and supply it to our people in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab,” Gadkari tweeted.

The development comes days after New Delhi revoked Islamabad’s status as the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) and hiked the excise duty on imports to 200 per cent post Lethpora attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy.

In the deadly blast carried out by the Jaish-e-Muhammad’s suicide bomber Adil Dar on February 14, over 40 CRPF men were killed while many others sustained injuries. (KNO)
