Srinagar: The relatives of Mohammad Hussain Reshi complained about the lack of facilities and doctor’s negligence as Hussain breathed his last few days back.
Hussain was admitted in Shifa Hospital Magarmal Bagh in August while he died on 6th October.
In his complaint, Mohammad Lateef, relative of Hussain, stated that the patient was admitted in the hospital in August, died in October owing to the negligence of doctors.
The deaceased, Mohd Hussain (70) consulted Dr. Bilal Ahmad Khan in August as he was having stones in his gall bladder and was advised to have his gall bladder removed.
The surgery took place on August 8 where Dr. Bilal Ahmad Khan along with his medical team operated upon the victim, the complaint mentioned.
After staying in the hospital for two days post-surgery, Mohd Hussain got discharged from the hospital. The doctors assured that the patient would be fine soon.
Meanwhile, Hussain developed inflammation and kept on vomiting. His family got in touch with the doctors and he was readmitted to the same hospital.
He was there in the hospital for 22 days. Thereafter, the situation kept on getting worse. There were some complications post-surgery as the fluid inside was not drained properly.
The family then decided to discharge from Shifa Hospital and immediately went to SKIMS Soura where the patients’ health kept on degrading further and Hussain was admitted in ICU and kept on ventilator for 26 days.
“He was in coma for about a month and was kept on ventilator for 26 days but unfortunately he breathed his last on October 6,” Lateef said.
“We just want to say that death is in the hands of Allah but a doctor should at least put in some efforts. This should not happen in future with anyone,” added Lateef.
“Also the hospital lags various facilities that are very important for patient survival.”
However, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Khan, Gastroenterologist Shifa Hospital denied such allegations and said the doctors were continuously supervising the patient. Infact, the doctors from SKIMS were monitoring him day in and day out.
