Kalaroos woman alleges molestation by IAY official

Srinagar: A woman from Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday alleged molestation by the Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) official in the Kalaroos block.

However, she said that accused is roaming free as no action has been taken against him.

According to KNS correspondent, Fayaz Hameed, the women hailing from Hayan Kalaroos area of Lolab, alleged that the official of IAY at Kalaroos block development office molested her after she went to the block office for some work related to compensation.

“I went to the IAY block Kalaroos on March 20 know something about compensation but the official present there abused me and molested me,” she said, adding that she however successfully managed to run from the spot.

She said that they subsequently went to the court for justice in this regard where the judge delivered her a letter and advised her to visit to the Joint Director’s office.

“I went to the Joint Director’s office where I delivered the letter of judge but unfortunately nothing has been done in this regard,” she added.

The victim said that she is being forced to withdraw the case. “I am being forced to withdraw my case but now I don’t want any compensation. The accused must be booked and dealt under law” she demanded.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara, Shamsher Hussain when contacted told KNS that he will talk to the Station House Officer (SHO) in this regard to investigate the matter. (KNS)
