Amandeep Singh Boaparari was detained after trying to barge into PDP office in Jammu

JAMMU — Police on Tuesday detained an ‘extremist’ Amandeep Singh Boaparari after he yet again tried to hoist tricolor outside Peoples Democratic Party office in Jammu.

Singh, who calls himself a social activist, had appeared outside Gandhi Nagar based office of PDP last week and hoisted a couple of tricolors there. Later on, he turned up again along with his supporters and created a ruckus outside the party office.

Today, Singh again tried to barge into the PDP office to hoist tricolor but his bid was foiled and he was detained by Police.

Pertinently, right wing outfit ABVP activists yesterday emerged outside Bhatindi-based National Conference office but the NC activists chased them away. They burnt down erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir State’s flag and the photographs of Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.

Mehbooba Mufti, during a press conference, had said that she won’t raise any flag till Government of India doesn’t give the State flag back to people.

A Jammu-based PDP worker said that designs of Amandeep Singh Boaparari are crystal clear. “He wants to create a wedge between different communities. This will suit to a particular party who are facing peoples’ ire over the new laws that are being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

A police officer feigned ignorance about the detention of Singh but said that nobody will be allowed to resort to hooliganism and disturb peace and order in Jammu.
