19 militants killed this year so far, says IGP Kashmir

SRINAGAR — Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar on Monday revealed that 19 militants have been killed so far this year in nine gunfights across Kashmir valley.

Vijay Kumar said that 19 militants including nine from Shopian district of south Kashmir were gunned down in nine gunfights which took place between security forces and militants in different areas of Kashmir valley.

He further asserted that 18 militants had joined militant ranks in the current year, adding that five among 18 were killed while three have been arrested by the forces.

He also made a fervent appeal to parents of Kashmiri youth to take care of their children and stop them from joining any militant ranks.

Kumar said, “I appeal to those parents whose children have joined any militant ranks to persuade their wards to shun this path of violence for which the police is ready to welcome them.”
