SRINAGAR — The government has decided to establish Common Facility Centres (CFCs) in every constituency of the State, the construction work on these facilities shall start shortly. This was stated by the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Abdul Haq at a high-level meeting, here today.

Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Kursheed Ahmed Shah and Director of Rural Development Kashmir, Mr. Tasaduq Jeelani were present at the meeting.

It was informed during the meeting that each CFC would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh by converging funds from the 13th Finance Commission award and MGNREGA. The CFCs would be utilized for both private as well as government functions like marriage ceremonies and official meetings.

It was also decided in the meeting that the construction of fencing walls around all assets of the Rural Development Department including Common Facility Centres and Block Development Councils shall be taken up during the current financial year.

It was also decided that all Executive Engineers of the Rural Development Department shall be authorized to utilize financial powers for the execution of development works under the 13th Finance Commission.

On the occasion, the Minister directed all executive engineers of the department to expedite the developmental works and ensure that these are completed by March next year.
