Drive against Bung cultivation in Pulwama soon

Pulwama: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Dar today chaired a meeting wherein it was decided that the authorities will start a drive against bang cultivation in the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Executive Engineers of R&B, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Tehsildar Tral, Kakapora, Pampore and Pulwama and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

On the occasion, DDC Pulwama said that the bung and other narcotics’ cultivation and related activities are dangerous for the entire society, particularly younger generation. He stressed on creating more awareness so that the drug menace is eradicated completely from the society.

He said that in this connection, a massive drive will be started against bung cultivation in Pulwama on 26th of this month at Charsoo Pulwama where large number of people including senior civil officers, civil society members and common people will take part in destroying the bung along road sides and river banks.

During the meeting, he directed the officers to play their role in the endeavor to make the campaign successfull. He also asked them to work with sincerity and dedication so that the cultivation of bung will be completely destroyed in the district.

Meanwhile, DDC Pulwama also directed the concerned officers to provide equipment like brush cutters, sticks and sickles so that maximum number of people can participate in this campaign.
