Engagement of casual workers banned in J&K

Jammu: Governor N N Vohra has directed Chief Secretary BR Sharma to ban with immediate effect the engagement of any fresh casual or seasonal labourers in any Government Department or State-owned Public Sector Undertakings.

Governor also directed the Chief Secretary that the process for regularization of eligible daily wagers and those engaged on a contractual basis should be expedited and completed by March 1, 2016.

The issue of regularization of daily wagers and contractual workers has been hanging fire for the past quite sometime now.
