SRINAGAR — Iltija Mufti, daughter of Mehbooba Mufti, today demanded probe into the recent encounters in the valley of Kashmir.
“Shocked to hear about reports of 3 missing labourers reportedly killed in a staged encounter at Shopian. Armed forces have a free hand to operate with impunity,” Iltija posted on Twitter from her mother’s official handle.
She added, “Explains why bodies are allowed to decompose at unknown locations. Probes into recent encounters must be ordered.”
Meanwhile, Army issued a statement on Shopian encounter which took place on July 18, 2020 and said that it is investigating the matter.
“We have noted social media inputs linked to the operation at Shopian on July 18. Militants killed during the operation have not been identified & bodies were buried based on established protocols.”
