Leopard killed in Baramulla village, case registered

SRINAGAR — A leopard was killed on Sunday after it entered into Chandoosa village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and tried to attack people there.

Reports reaching here said that the leopard was killed by locals with bricks, bamboo sticks and rods.

The leopard, as per locals, had entered into the village and tried to attack them. “However, the leopard was chased by the people and was killed later,” locals said.

Wildlife Department, North Warden said that strict action will be taken against the culprits involved in the act. He said the team of officials have reached the spot and ‘rescued’ the body of wild leopard.

Meanwhile, Station House Officer (SHO) Chandoosa confirmed the incident and said a case has been registered in this regard. He further stated that those involved in the act will be arrested soon.
