One student had explosive device in classroom: Police

SRINAGAR — Police on Thursday said that an explosion in the school at Pulwama occurred after one of the students was carrying an explosive device with him that went off, resulting in injuries to many students while as samples have been taken from the spot for the forensic examination.

“There is no doubt that one of the students was carrying an explosive device with him that went off in the Pulwama school. The nature of explosion is being found out as samples have been taken and sent for the forensic examination,” a top police officer said.

Earlier, over a dozen students of Class 10th were injured in a mysterious blast inside a private school in Singoo Narbal area of Kakapora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday afternoon.

The mysterious blast had occurred inside the private school, Falahi-i-Milat when students were busy in taking tuition. A police officer had confirmed that they were investigating the nature of the blast.

SSP Pulwama, Chandan Kohli had said that FIR was registered at Police Station Kakapora in this regard.

Governor Satya Pal Malik had also expressed regret over the unfortunate incident.

He prayed for speedy recovery of all the children and announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 50,000 for all those injured. He has directed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to ensure best possible medical treatment to injured children. (KNO)
