Police apprehend notorious drug peddler in Pulwama

PULWAMA — Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from society, police have arrested a notorious drug peddler in Pulwama and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

“Police Station Pulwama received specific information through reliable sources that one person namely Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Bandzoo, has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substances in his residential house,” the police statement said.

It added, “On receipt of this information, a police party from Police Station Pulwama raided the said location at Bandzoo Pulwama. During the search, officers were able to recover 6 kg of Bhang Patri from the said house.”

The accused person was arrested and shifted to Police Station Pulwama, where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 46/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and an investigation has been set into motion.

“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making continuous efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” the statement assured.
