Pre-dawn gunshots create panic in Shopian villages

SHOPIAN — Panic gripped Amshipora belt of Shopian during pre-dawn hours of Friday after locals heard gunshots.

Reports reaching here said that a contingent of forces was patrolling Amshipora-Ramnagri belt when they witnessed a suspicious movement.

“They fired many gunshots towards the spot, however, later found nothing in the area,” sources said.

Sources added that the gunshots created panic in the area as everyone presumed that encounter had raged in the area.

An official confirmed that few gunshots were heard, however, everything was normal in the area.
