Two LeT militants from Pakistan killed in Sopore encounter: Army

SRINAGAR — Two militants, who were killed in an encounter in Hadipora area of northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday, were from Pakistan and affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit, said the Army on Thursday.

As per the news agency CNS, an Army officer during a press conference said that they had received inputs about the presence of militants in one of the houses in Hadipora village, where a cordon and search operation was carried out, resulting in the killing of two militants.

“Both of the slain militants, identified as Usman and Umar, were from Pakistan and affiliated with the LeT outfit. Usman has been active in Kashmir valley since 2020,” the Army officer said.

He said that the gunning down of the duo was a major success for the security forces.

After the operation, a large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from militants’ possession, the Army officer added.
