PM Modi announces assembly election preparations in J-K

SRINAGAR — During his speech at SKICC in Srinagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that preparations for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have begun, signalling a significant step towards restoring democratic processes in the region.

Prime Minister Modi, according to the Srinagar-based news agency KDC, emphasized the importance of local representation, stating, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir elect their representatives at the local level; through them, you find ways to solve problems. What can be better than this?”

He continued, “Therefore, now the preparations for the Assembly elections have also started. The time is not far when you will elect the new government of Jammu and Kashmir with your votes. That day will also come soon when Jammu and Kashmir will once again make its future better as a state.”

Addressing the gathering, Modi highlighted efforts to bridge divides, both emotional and geographical, remarking, “Duri Dil ke rahe hou ya Delhi ke, we are trying our best to erase them.”

He further added, “In a true sense, the construction of India has been implemented now while the wall of Article 370 has been broken down.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a critical gap in rural governance by personally distributing appointment letters to 1174 newly selected Panchayat Secretaries in the Rural Development sector at SKICC, Srinagar.

These appointments are aimed at addressing the current manpower shortage within the department, thereby bolstering administrative efficiency and governance at the grassroots level.

In the same event, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha affirmed, “We are committed to empowering our youth to drive inclusive growth and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.”
