JKSSB Teacher Recruitment 2018 for 2154 Posts

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board has announced JKSSB Teacher Recruitment 2018 for 2154 Posts.

While the vacancies have been announced for 14 Districts only and with 554 Posts, Srinagar District tops the list of Teacher jobs in JKSSB Teacher Recruitment 2018 for 2154 Posts.

Earlier, J&K Government announced SRO-508, mentioning New Rules for Recruitment of Teachers in J&K. Through the SRO, changes have been made only in the “Method of Recruitment”.

The present government has amended the Rules and fixed Graduation as minimum educational eligibility to apply for these teaching jobs. With this change, the competition will be lessened as only Graduates can now become Teachers in J&K.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants willing to apply for JKSSB Teacher Recruitment 2018 must fullfill the below mentioned eligibility conditions.

I. Domicile: Applicant must be a permanent resident of J&K and also, he must apply for posts for his respective district only.

II. Age-Limit: Applicant must have attained the minimum age of 18 years and the maximum age should not exceed 40 years. The Cut-Off Date for determining the Age Criteria is 1st of January, 2017.

However, there is relaxation in upper age limit for various categories as given under:

⇒ For SC / ST / RBA / ALC / OSC: 43 Years
⇒ For Physcially Challenged: 42 Years
⇒ For Ex-Servicemen: 48 Years

III. Educational Qualification: The minimum qualification to apply for Teacher Posts is Graduation only. However, JKSSB has categorized the Teacher Posts Subject-wise with 30% Reserved Posts for Science / Maths and 10% Posts for Urdu Teachers.

The Subject-wise Educational Qualification for various Categories of Teachers Posts is provided below.

i) General Teachers: Anyone, who is a Graduate in any Discipline, can apply for General Teacher Posts. Those having Integrated Post Graduation Degree of 5 Years are also eligible.

ii) Science / Maths Teachers: Applicants, who have studied Physics OR Chemistry OR Maths OR Botany OR Zoology as one of the subjects in all the Semesters / Years of their Graduation Degree, can apply for Science / Maths Teacher Posts.

Note: Engineering Graduates who have studied these Subjects in their First / Second Semester (1st Year) are not eligible to apply for Science / Maths Teacher Posts as candidates are required to have studied one of these Subjects in all the Semesters / Years of their Degree. However, they can apply for General Teacher Posts.

iii) Urdu Teacher: Candidates, who have studied Urdu as a Subject in all the Semesters / Years of their Graduation Degree, can apply for Urdu Teacher Posts.

Selection Criteria: The selection criteria for the recruitment of Teachers through JKSSB comprises of Written Test (85 Points) and Preference for B.Ed, M.Ed and Higher Qualification (15 Points).

However, the Written Exam is the deciding factor for a candidate’s selection as it carries the maximum weightage of 85 Points.

Higher Qualification carries 15 Points for which the break-up of Points is provided below:

1) B Ed: 05 Points
2) M.Ed: 05 Points
3) Post Graduation OR Integrated PG: 02 Points
4) M.Phil: 01 Point
5) Ph.D (After M.Phil): 02 Points (Direct Ph.D: 03 Points)

How To Apply? The process for submission of the Job Application is online only and as such, an aspirant has to submit the Application by logging-in on the official job portal of JKSSB.

Online Application: The link for submission of the JKSSB Online Application for Teacher posts will remain active for at least 25 days i.e, from 28th of December, 2017 to 21st of January, 2018.

School Education Department earlier released SRO-508 with New Rules of Recruitment for Teachers in J&K. It is pertinent to mention here that no changes have been made in the Eligibility Criteria for Teachers, which will remain as Graduation only. However, preference will be given to those having higher qualification like PG, B.Ed / M.Ed, M.Phil, Ph.D et cetera.

As per the New Recruitment Rules, following changes have been made in the Method of Recruitment:

1) 95% of Direct Recruitment having the following ratio:

i) 60% from Graduates in any discipline.

ii) 30% among Science and Maths Graduates i.e, candidates should have studied at least one of these Subjects at Graduation level. The Subjects include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology & Botany.

iii) 10% of Urdu Graduates i.e, those who have studied Urdu as a subject at Graduation level.

2) 5% by promotion from Class-IV Category B who possess minimum qualification of 10+2 with 3 years of substantive service is that Class.

It is pertinent to mention that the Education Department released the SRO-290 on 7th of September, 2016 which contained the Rules for Recruitment of Teachers in future.

As per the SRO, 95% of Teachers jobs will be filled by Direct Recruitment and 5% by promoting Class-IVth employees of the Department.

Under Direct Recruitment, 60% of posts are to be filled with those having Graduation as minimum qualification, with preference to candidates having the higher qualification and professional qualification like B.Ed / M.Ed.

30% Teacher posts will be filled from Science / Maths Graduates i.e, those having Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Zoology and Maths as one of their Subjects in Graduation. And, the Left-Over 10% Posts will be filled from Urdu Graduates i.e, those who have studied Urdu as a Subject at Graduation Level.
