Srinagar: Kashmir-based Bollywood actor & director, Rufy Khan’s short film ‘Who Dies’ was screened at the New York Peace Film Festival (NYPFF).

“Who Dies”, made in 2016, is a 13-minute short dramatic film set in Kashmir where two badly wounded fighters, one a soldier and one a Kashmiri militant, coincidentally take refuge in the same hut.

In “Who Dies”, directed by Shahnawaz Baqal alias Rufy Khan, Rufy plays an army man who deals with a Kashmiri militant.

“The story revolves around an army man & a militant, how both deal with the situation”, says the actor.

The versatile actor, an International Award winning talent, is feeling exceptionally honored for his shortlisted movie at a prestigious film festival like the NYPFF.

“I am feeling honored to have been called at an International film festival like this one. My film has been shortlisted and screened at an International level. And that itself is a big reward”, Rufy says.

“It’s a privilege to be honored with such an overwhelming recognition. Thanking all for their love and support”, he adds.

“My dreams have not yet come true but it’s now started. Such recognition has motivated me to contribute my talent in Bollywood industry with versatile acting”, the actor goes on promising.

Short Film - Who Dies

Last month, the film was screened at 10th Film Saaz International Film Festival. The film “WHO DIES” also won the Best Film award in prestigious Kala Ghoda Film Festival 2017.

“WHO DIES” was also awarded the Best Film on Current Issue in India’s most prestigious Film Festival – Jaipur International Film Festival, 2017.

The film was also officially selected in Don Bosco Youth Film Festival 2017 to compete among top 10 films of India.

Rufy has done lots of TV commercials. The famous ones are the two wheeler Hero Honda Scooty ad with Priyanka Chopra, which gave him instant fame, a Pepsi ad with Kareena Kapoor and an ad for Santro Cars with Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta.

Apart from that, he has done print ads and fashion catalogue shoots as well.

“I also got lots of tempting offers for daily soaps when I was modeling which I rejected, as my goal was to be seen on the big screen and destiny played its role”, reveals the actor.

Nautanki Saala happened at the right time as it changed everything for him.

It is pertinent to mention that Rufy is also a civil engineer from the reputed Aligarh University and owns a beautiful resort in Kashmir.

Nautanki Saala fame actor Rufy Khan is also heading for other projects this year.
