PULWAMA — A fruit grower in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has acquired an Apple Grading Machine on Wednesday, which is the first ever in the entire south Kashmir.
The initiative has been taken by Dr. Nisar Ahmad Latoo, who is a progressive and experienced orchardist from Drabgam village of Pulwama.
He believes that all the farmers from the Valley should focus on new technologies and innovative ideas of farming to compete with the global market.
Pertinently, the Grading Machine separates the Apples according to their size and helps in attaining better market prices.
Meanwhile, the grading machine was inaugurated by Director of Horticulture Kashmir, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat. He said Apple growers are gradually adopting modern techniques.
Director Horticulture also said that the fruit grower who has installed the mini-grading line will be rewarded with Horticulture incentives so that other orchardists will get encouraged.
