PULWAMA — Young Bards, a social group of young writers and poets, organized an Open Mic Session on the theme “Women in Leadership” on the eve of International Women’s Day 2021 in southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
The event was held in Read Coffee Cafe, where writers and poets not only shared their poetry but also expressed their views about the status of women and how things can be challenged and changed for good.
Some of the young, prominent writers also graced the occasion and shared their ideas of experiences the audience.
“This is our second Open Mic program. Youngsters need to speak out about the issues that surround us and Young Bards is a platform, trying to be of some help in this very direction. This platform is to help them express their feelings in an unadulterated form,” Sakeena Jabeen, one of the organizers, said.
Aasif Ganaie, Editor of The Kashmir Pulse, reiterated, “There is an urgent need to revive such literary platforms and activities which enable youngsters to express their ideas with like-minded people and keep learning new things in a fun-filled way.”
Mir Zeeshan, the cafe owner, was also appreciated for his support by the event organizers.
The event saw poetry in multiple languages and talk on social issues among others from the young breed of participants.
It is in place to mention that the event was organized by Young Bards in collaboration with The Kashmir Pulse, which has been providing space for everyone, who has something interesting to share with the world.
