‘Kashmir Pheran Day’ celebrated in Srinagar

Social activists on Tuesday celebrated the arrival of ‘Chilai-e-Kalan’ by observing the day as ‘Kashmir Pheran Day’.

A group of social activists assembled in the heart of city centre Lal Chowk and appealed government to allow local and non-local employees to wear Pheran

Social activist Pir Imtiyaz Hussain said that Pheran is a traditional dress of Kashmir and it should be preserved and used during cold season.

He said Pheran is a gift to the people of Kashmir from spiritual leader Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (RA)

Another social activist Dr Mehar said that they should not forget their culture and tradition even if there is so much modernization.

“Pheran is our traditional dress and we should take pride in it. We should preserve our culture and tradition in this age of science and technology,” Dr Mehar said.
