IUST Awantipora launches B.Tech program in Robotics and Automation

PULWAMA — The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has announced the launch of a new B.Tech program in Robotics and Automation. Dr Ovais Gulzar, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted that the curriculum is designed to meet the increasing demand for professionals in automation and Industry 4.0 sectors.

Emphasizing the course’s innovative approach, Dr Gulzar stated that it integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications in robotics, mechatronics, control systems, CNC, 3D printing, industrial automation, and IoT. This comprehensive curriculum aims to equip students with the skills needed to excel in rapidly evolving technological landscapes.

Prof A H Moon, Dean of Academic Affairs at IUST, stressed the university’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities and fostering academia-industry collaborations. He noted that the program will be led by experienced faculty members with extensive academic and research backgrounds.

Dr Gulzar emphasized the global significance of automation and robotics in revolutionizing industries. He cited the soaring demand for professionals in these fields, particularly in India, where the automation sector is experiencing robust growth. Dr Gulzar projected the Indian market to reach USD 11.8 billion by 2026, with Jammu and Kashmir poised to benefit significantly from advancements in automation and robotics.

The introduction of the B.Tech program in Robotics and Automation at IUST aligns with regional development goals and addresses the local demand for a skilled workforce. Prof Moon highlighted the government’s focus on boosting industrial growth and creating job opportunities, affirming the program’s timely relevance.

Prospective students are encouraged to apply for admission to IUST’s various courses, with provisional consideration available for those awaiting qualifying exam results. Prof Moon invited aspirants to visit the campus to experience firsthand the facilities and opportunities offered.
