
PULWAMA — Pulwama Police have arrested a man during naka checking at Circular Road near Sirnoo Crossing and recovered approximately 6 grams of a heroin-like substance and ₹5,000 in cash, police said on Friday.
The accused was identified as Ateef Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone, a resident of Babademb, Khanyar, currently residing at Peerbagh in Srinagar, according to police.
The recovered substance and cash were taken into custody as per the prescribed procedure, police said.
A case has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under FIR No. 183/2026 under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said further investigation has been initiated to determine the source of the recovered substance and establish its further linkages.
Pulwama Police said it would continue action against those involved in the illegal narcotics trade as part of its stated zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking.
