Fake news circulated on social media about summer vacations in schools

Srinagar: The government today denied having announced summer vacations in educational institutions in the Kashmir valley.

Director School Education, Dr G N Itoo said that the department has issued no such order. “We have not announced summer vacations for schools,” Itoo told news gathering agency KNS.

The news about closing of schools in Kashmir for summer vacation from July 01 to July 18 is being circulated on social media, including WhatsApp, and is being attributed to former Commissioner Secretary Education, Shaleen Kabra, who was recently transferred from the department.

The order was issued last year by the government when Kabra headed the department.

“The news is totally false as any such order will be issued by the present Commissioner Secretary Farooq Ahmad Shah,” the Director Education said.
