Chandigarh University VC, Professor R S Bawa delivers lecture in CUK

Srinagar: Chandigarh University, Vice-Chancellor, Professor R S Bawa today delivered a special lecture on “Contemporary Issues in Indian Economy” in Department of Economics, Central University of Kashmir.

Professor R S Bawa highlighted the ‘problems of political decisions’ for framing the economic policies of the country. The guest speaker mentioned that the fruits of demographic dividend have not been exploited as yet. He predicted that in future we may get encountered by the problem of aged population, because majority of the people will become aged in future for whom there is no social security measures taken.

In addition to that, the guest speaker touched various burning issues like employment, poverty, social security and literacy confronted by Indian economy in contemporary times.

Earlier, HoD Economics, Prof. G.M. Bhat, highlighted the contributions of Professor Bawa’s academic life. Assistant Professor, Hurmat Sumaiya, presented vote of thanks.

Meanwhile, the two-day workshop on ‘Learning the Craft of Writing’ organized jointly by the Department of English and Convergent Journalism, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), culminated at Nowgam-I Academic block of the varsity here on Tuesday.

IIPA, (JK Chapter) President A M Wattali, Producer EMMRC, University of Kashmir and Greater Kashmir Columnist, Ajaz-ul-Haque, Coordinators Department of English and Convergent Journalism, Dr. Ihsan ur Rahim Malik and Dr. Asif Khan, noted Journalists, Riyaz Ahmad, writer Dr. Mir Khalid and Gowhar Geelani were present on the valedictory function.

All the speakers stressed upon writing on any theme whether that is on conflict, journey or any other topic. They encouraged the students to start observing the surroundings and pen down the feelings. Ajaz-ul-Haque also interacted with the students and answered their questions. Assistant Professor, Ra’ashid Maqbool proposed the vote of thanks. (KNS)
