KULGAM — Security forces on Saturday morning found a live hand grenade in Chawalgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district that was later diffused.

Official sources said that the grenade was detected by paramilitary CRPF in the area and a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) immediately rushed to the spot. The device was destroyed without causing any damage, they said.

CRPF Assistant Commandant, Gul Junaid Khan said that the grenade was detected by a forces patrol party of 173 Battalion in Chawalgam during morning hours, which was later successfully defused.

“Investigations in this regard are underway,” the officer added.
