
SRINAGAR — A brief exchange of firing took place between militants and government forces in Maldeera area of Zainapora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.
Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Police and Army’s 44RR launched cordon-and-search-operation in Maldeera after having specific information about presence of some militants.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants in orchard fired upon them, triggering off a brief shootout.
A senior Police officer confirmed about the brief exchange of firing and said that searches are still underway in the area.
