
SRINAGAR — Kashmir on Friday morning witnessed another COVID-19 related death, taking the fatality count due to the virus in J&K to 73.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Professor Farooq Jan said that a 79-year-old man from Nowshera area of Srinagar with travel history to Saudi Arabia died of this infectious disease on Thursday night. He said the patient was admitted on 08 June with hypertension, T2DM, Hypothyroidism with B/L chest infiltrate.
Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded three deaths due to this virus in a day, among which two were from Shopian and one was a Srinagar resident.
The overall death toll due to this deadly virus in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir now stands at 73-Nine from Jammu and 64 from the Valley.
Srinagar district with 18 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 12, Shopian (9), Kulgam (8) six each in Anantnag and Jammu, Kupwara (five), Budgam (three), Pulwama (two) while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Doda, Udhampur and Rajouri.
