Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) has termed the rumors of the demise of its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani as the handiwork of ‘vested interests’ and termed it unfortunate.
Hurriyat (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar said that such rumors had been doing rounds on several occasions.
“Geelani sahib is alright and has, infact, got some tests done in Apollo Hospital New Dehli on Monday,” he said.
Akbar criticized state government for what he said, laying siege around Geelani’s Hyderpora residence.
He said that when Geelani was in Srinagar, Police used to block the main entrance and now when the Hurriyat Chairman was in New Delhi such blockades around his house were unfortunate.
Earlier some rumors of Geelani’s death were doing rounds in Srinagar on Monday morning.
