
SRINAGAR — A nocturnal encounter started between militants and government forces in main town area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the main town.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
A senior police officer also confirmed about the exchange of firing between the militants and security forces.
As this report was being filed, intermittent exchange of fire was going on.
