Hails prioritizing SSA salaries

Srinagar: Hailing the fresh initiatives of Education Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari, the Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF) has welcomed relieving off teachers from non teaching assignments like elections, census and other off beat responsibilities to minimise the interruption in academic activities.

In a statement issued to KNS, JKReTTF Chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray hailed the various innovative endeavors that Bukhari announced during the press briefing for reformation of education sector of the state. He said that these reformative measures will broaden the scope of quality education in the state.

Tantray also welcomed the proposals of Education Minister like exploring the possibilities to execute Mid-day Meals (MDM) through NGOs and providing alternative to deal with accountancy and relieving the teachers from this task.

The no detention policy for 5th and 8th classes and remedial teaching for elementary classes was also hailed. The proposal to create a separate works division that will deal with constructions of school infrastructure will reduce the burden on teaching faculty and they will focus on their primary duties.

The JKReTTF Chairman also said that Education Minister has vindicated our stand on infamous screening test by restricting the test to less than one percent of teaching community. He said JKReTTF had always maintained that a small issue was blown out of proportions by vested interests by generalizing entire ReT community which led to stigmatization of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers. The controversy caused agonizing situation for nation builders.

Chairman of the forum thanked Bukhari for keeping the order of Screening Test for promotions in abeyance and urged him to completely revoke the order after the code of conduct ends.

Forum also hailed the concern of Education Minister vis-à-vis working on modalities to resolve the demand of ReT transfers and the plight of SSA teachers in respect of their pending salaries. He said that these teachers have to grapple with odds and their families face countless difficulties and this effects the academic work in schools. He urged upon the EM to prioritize the SSA salaries issue and streamline the monthly dues in future.

In a joint statement Chairman FA Tantary and general secretary Jhanghir Alam Khan more said that the announcements announces by the minister in recent press conference if implemented on ground then it was the revelationary and historic steps added the forum leaders.

They said that in past many announcements was proved hallow and they hope that this time it will be implemented on ground for the betterment of our feature generation ,so the teacher can give his maximum time to his students and a quality education will provide to them. (KNS)
