Kashmir Super League (KSL) – LIVE

About - Kashmir Super League (KSL)

In April 2016, about 10 Kashmiri youth based in UAE, who’re working as professionals in IT, telecom and business management sector, came together to create Kashmir Super League (KSL), an IPL-like cricketing extravaganza which aims to bring together the Kashmiri expat community living in the emirates.

The first league started on May 2, 2016. All the matches in this month-long Twenty20 cricket tournament were played at Hamriya Grass Ground, Ajman, and UAE.

The teams participating in the tournament have 15 players each, all of them of Kashmiri origin. The teams participating in KSL include Lal Bazar Lions, Khanyar Kings, Khankah Gladiators, Sopore Strikers, Tral Tigers, Safakadal Stars, Rajbagh Floodies, Hokarsar Rangers, Srinagar Sultans and Razekadal Royals.

“The idea was to start a cricketing extravaganza which could bring together all Kashmiris residing in Emirates and our networking eventually led to the formation of Kashmir Super league,” said Imad Rehman , a Kashmiri Marketing professional based in UAE who is also involved in the marketing and promotions of KSL.

“Initially it was to be organized with four teams but due to huge support of many Kashmiris here wanting to be the part of KSL, eight teams were formed in the end,” said Naveed Siraj, a professional photographer based in UAE who is also part of core marketing and promotions team of KSL.

“Organizing such a big event requires cash inflows for managing the teams but the KSL core team management helped in organizing some sponsors so that the tournament could be started smoothly,” said Inayat Fazali, Kashmir Super League (KSL), Management & Enterprise Manager.

The journey of KSL does not stop here. “The basic idea is to promote KSL into a Super League where good cricketing talent from Kashmir and other parts of the world can be sponsored to be part of Future KSL leagues,” said Imad, adding that KSL will be the future platform for young talented cricketers of Kashmiri origin to showcase their skills at the international level.

Pro-Sports, an online Facebook community founded by Imad, facilitates live stream of the matches.
