Jammu and Kashmir recorded two deaths in a day on Monday due to COVID-19, taking the toll of COVID related deaths in the Union Territory to 30.

A day after a top bureaucrat was tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, the claim being made by the government that COVID-19 protocol is for everyone, proves a myth only to hoodwink common people.

Directors of School Education Kashmir and Jammu have been directed to make availability of safety items in government schools to students in view outbreak of coronavirus.

Alleging academic negligence and indiscrimination on part of authorities at SSM College, Pattan and Kashmir University, M.Tech students of 2018-20 batch at SSM College of Engineering on Monday said that the students were given admission through entrance test and Gate quota by Kashmir University in August 2018 and allotted the SSM College of Engineering, Pattan.

India witnessed 8,390 cases in 24 hours on the second consecutive day. With this, the total case count of coronavirus disease mounted to 1,90,535 on Monday. India emerged as the 7th worst COVID-hit country globally, leaving behind France and Germany. At least 230 new fatalities were also recorded in 24 hours time, taking the toll to 5,394.

Singer-composer Wajid Khan of music director duo Sajid-Wajid, popular for their work on superstar Salman Khan’s films such as “Wanted”, “Dabangg” and “Ek Tha Tiger”, died in wee hours on Monday in a city hospital due to coronavirus.

Sixteen pregnant women and an employee (nursing orderly) were among 105 fresh cases of COVID-19 declared by the government in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, taking the overall tally of the infected persons in J&K to 2446.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, University of Kashmir (KU) has proposed to abandon entrance examination and instead select students on the basis of merit obtained in the qualifying examination.
