Merit-cum-Preference & Cadre Allocation

  • Candidates will be required to indicate their preference of Cadre and Department either in the online application or at a later stage.
  • Final allocation of Cadre and Department will be strictly on the basis of merit-cum-preference.
  • Once notified, allocation is final and binding — no request for change will be entertained under any circumstances.
  • Candidates who fail to indicate preference will be deemed to have accepted whatever Cadre/Department allocation the Board decides.

Reservation & Horizontal Reservation

  • Reservation will be applied as per the category-wise break-up conveyed by the indenting department, in accordance with the J&K Reservation Act/Rules.
  • Candidates applying under a reserved category must possess a valid category certificate in the prescribed format as on the cut-off date. Certificates in any other format will not be entertained.
  • Horizontal reservation is applicable for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), to the extent communicated by the respective indenting departments.
  • Ex-Servicemen benefiting from Horizontal Reservation once cannot avail the same benefit again for any subsequent employment, and must submit a sworn affidavit at the time of document scrutiny.

Facility of Scribe & Compensatory Time for PwBD Candidates

Candidates with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) who hold a valid disability certificate can avail:

  • The services of a scribe, and/or
  • Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination

To avail this facility, candidates must submit a Certificate of Physical Limitation to Write (Annexure-B), signed by a Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent of a Government hospital, along with a Letter of Undertaking for Using Own Scribe (Annexure-C).

  • Must arrange their own scribe.
  • The scribe must not be a candidate for the same exam.

How to Apply for JKSSB Class-IV/Sanitation Worker Recruitment 2026

  1. Visit the official JKSSB website — www.jkssb.nic.in — once the application window opens on 05.10.2026.
  2. Register/Log in to the online application portal following the instructions published on the Board’s website.
  3. Fill in the online application form carefully with personal details, educational qualification, category, and cadre/department preferences.
