AWANTIPORA — The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, will host the J&K Science Congress 2026 from September 29 to October 1 at its main campus.
The three-day Congress will be inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor and IUST Chancellor Manoj Sinha on September 29.
Being organised under the theme “Science, Innovations and Emerging Technologies for Sustainable and Viksit J&K”, the Congress will bring together scientists, academicians, researchers, innovators, policymakers, industry representatives and students to discuss emerging scientific and technological developments and their applications to challenges specific to Jammu and Kashmir.
The event will feature 26 technical sessions, five plenary sessions and invited talks and discussions covering a range of scientific and technological fields.
The organisers said the Congress would focus on translating scientific knowledge and emerging technologies into solutions relevant to society, the economy and sustainable development in the Union Territory.
The scientific programme will cover areas including artificial intelligence, quantum science, nanotechnology, biotechnology, healthcare, sustainable energy, climate and environmental sciences, water and biodiversity, disaster resilience, innovation and entrepreneurship, and smart engineering systems.
Special sessions will also examine applications of science and technology in sectors such as food processing and tourism.
A dedicated School Students’ Science Programme, including a segment in collaboration with the National Children’s Science Congress, will seek to promote scientific curiosity among young learners.
The Congress will also feature cultural and outreach activities aimed at strengthening engagement among academia, industry, policymakers and the wider community.
