CISF head constable allegedly kills four colleagues in Kathua

KATHUA — A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Head Constable allegedly opened fire on his colleagues following a verbal altercation at the Sewa-II Hydroelectric Project in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, killing four personnel, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 7 PM at the CISF unit deployed at the hydroelectric project, according to officials.

The accused allegedly used an AK-47 assault rifle to open fire. He was subsequently overpowered by his colleagues and handed over to the police, officials said.

The four personnel who died in the incident were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Constable Rafiq Ahmed, Constable Sandeep Kumar and Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh.

The CISF said the accused is a 2009-batch Head Constable and has been handed over to the police.

The force also said an internal inquiry is being set up to examine the incident.

The CISF unit was deployed for security at the Sewa-II Hydroelectric Project, located on the Sewa River in Kathua district.
