
ANANTNAG — National Conference MLA from Pahalgam, Altaf Ahmad Wani, popularly known as Altaf Kaloo, has been booked by police following a complaint alleging an altercation with a police personnel in the Pahalgam area.
Wani has denied the allegations and called for a fair and impartial inquiry into the incident.
According to the complaint, the case relates to an alleged confrontation involving the legislator and a police personnel in Pahalgam. Police have registered a case following the complaint, while details of the sections invoked and the circumstances of the incident are being ascertained.
Responding to the allegations, Kaloo said the police personnel concerned was allegedly absent from duty when he questioned him about his absence.
He further alleged that the policeman pushed him when he sought an explanation.
The legislator has requested IGP Kashmir and SSP Anantnag to examine the matter and conduct a fair and impartial inquiry so that the facts and circumstances of the incident can be established.
Kaloo has also urged the police authorities to verify and clarify the facts before issuing any official press note or statement, maintaining that the matter should be examined objectively on the basis of the actual circumstances.
The case remains under investigation, and further details are awaited.
