UGC NET Exam 2018

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which had conducted the University Grants Commission’s National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET), probably for the last time this year, declared the UGC NET 2018 result today evening. The exam was conducted on July 8, 2018.

From the next year onwards, the UGC NET exam would be conducted by the newly-formed National Testing Agency (NTA).

For the first time in the UGC-NET exam history, the CBSE is going to release the results within the same month of conducting the examination. Earlier, the UGC-NET used to be declared by the CBSE after three to four months of holding the exam. Sometimes it crossed five months.

A total of 11.48 lakh candidates took the eligibility test across 91 cities. The examination was conducted in 84 different subjects.

According to CBSE source, “The Board is working towards releasing the results by the end of this month, and most likely on July 31, 2018 if all goes as planned. However, it is confirmed that the results will be out latest by August 4, which will be within one month after the conduct of the exam.”

There were 2082 examination centres across the country. A total number of 2864 observers and 675 Board’s officials were deputed on these centres to oversee the conduct of the examination.

Some changes were made for the NET exam this year. The cut-off age of candidates applying for the Junior Research Fellow (JRF) post has been revised to 30 years from 28 years. Earlier, candidates had to appear for three papers, this year they appeared only for two papers.
