Police busts bike lifters’ gang in Pulwama

SRINAGAR — 12 motorbikes were recovered on Thursday as Police claimed to have busted an inter-district bike lifters’ gang in south-Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS said that “on receipt of series of complaints with regard to motor vehicle thefts” in Pulwama town and subsequent complaints registered under FIR vide numbers 81, 89, 103, 105, 121, 122, 129 under section 379 RPC and further investigations were taken up.

“During the course of investigations, police officials succeeded in busting of the gang of inter-district bike lifters during which six accused were rounded up and on their disclosure a total 12 bikes were recovered from their disclosure,” the spokesman said.

The bikes including; 10 Bajaj Pulsar, 01 Passion Pro and 01 Bajaj Discover have been stolen from Pulwama, Budgam and Shopian districts. These bikes will be returned back to their rightful owners following due legal formalities, the spokesman said.

“The police have sought cooperation of the general public for the prevention as well as investigation of the crimes, the way they have done in these cases”.

Meanwhile, locals of the area have appreciated the role of the Police.
