
SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested four Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant associates in northern Kashmir.
Reports reaching here said that following a specific information about the presence of two militant associates in Noorbagh area of Sopore, a joint team operation was launched by police, Army and CRPF, during which two militant associates were arrested.
A senior police official also confirmed the arrest and said the duo were providing logistic support to active militants of LeT, adding that arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
The officer said a case has been registered and investigation has been initiated into the incident.
Meanwhile, in another such operation, police claimed to have arrested two associates of LeT militant outfit in Handwara area.
A police officer said that acting on a tip-off, a joint team of SOG and Army arrested two persons during a raid at Shalpora area of Langate in Handwara last night.
He identified the arrested persons as Azad Ahmad Bhat of Shalpora and Altaf Ahmad Baba of Rafiabad.
“Two grenades, two pistols, one letter pad of LeT besides other incriminating material were recovered from their possession,” the officer said.
In this connection, a case under FIR number 104/2020 under Section 7/25 Arms Act was registered and further investigations has been taken up, he said.
