
SRINAGAR — Kashmir recorded another COVID-19 death as a 65 years old coronavirus positive patient from Khanpora Baramulla in north Kashmir died, taking the death toll to 27 by this deadly disease in J&K.
An official said that 65-years-old male from Khanpora, Baramulla was referred from GMC Hospital Baramulla with fever, respiratory distress on 27-05-2020 to SMHS Hospital Srinagar. Patient expired within hours of admission. “His sample tested positive today,” the official said.
With the fatality, the death toll due to the virus has gone upto 5 in Baramulla and overall 27 in J&K.
So far, Srinagar district has highest number of the fatalities—7 followed by Anantnag and Baramulla with five deaths each, Kulgam has reported four while Budgam and Jammu have two each and one death each has been reported from Bandipora and Udhampur.
Meanwhile, the Baramulla resident who died due to coronavirus was buried as per the guidelines set by the authorities at his native village in Khanpora.
An official said that only a few people from the family including SSP Baramulla were allowed to participate in the funeral after wearing protective gear. Besides as per the protocol, the body was buried 8 feet below the surface.
