Accused driver surrenders after duo dies in Kulgam accident

KULGAM — The accused who fled away last night after hitting a motor-cycle surrendered before police today.

A rider and a pillion rider were killed on-spot on Friday late evening after a Wagon-R hit a bike at Ganjipora Bridge on National Highway near Mir Bazar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The deceased were identified as Majid Keenu and Nisar Ahmed, both residents of Boon Gund Dooru village of Anantnag.

The Wagon-R (JK03G-7799) driver had fled away from the spot after the accident.

A police official said that the accused driver who hails from Furrah village presented himself before the police at police post Mir Bazar. He said the accused driver confessed he fled away from the spot after the accident.

A case vide FIR number 116/2021 under Section 279/304 IPC already stands registered at Police Station Qazigund in this regard.
