SRINAGAR — Suspected militants on Thursday fired upon a Police party in main chowk Sopore area of northern Kashmir.
A senior Police officer said that militants fired on the policemen from a distance. However, no loss of life or injury has been reported in the incident.
Meanwhile, the whole neighbourhood where the incident occurred has been cordoned off by joint teams of government forces to nab the attackers.
Sopore Police rebuts report of militant attack
The report of the shooting incident in Sopore’s main chowk is completely false, according to Sopore Police.
In a tweet, Sopore Police said that no such incident has occurred and asked the general public to cooperate with the police and ignore rumour mongering.
