SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have killed a militant and recovered an AK-47 and other ammunition during an encounter in Gambir Mughlan area of Rajouri district.

In a statement issued to the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that on September 11, a joint search operation was launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Gambir Mughlan area.

“During the search, hiding militants opened fire on the search party, which was retaliated effectively, and in the course of which one unidentified militant was neutralised,” the statement reads.

It reads that one AK-47 with two magazines and thirty-two rounds and a grenade was also recovered.

“In this regard, a case FIR No. 141/2021 U/S 307/120-B IPC, 13 ULA, 7/27 Arms Act has been registered at PS Manjakote and investigation initiated. Search operation is still ongoing,” it reads.
