Selection Process
The selection runs in three phases:
- Online Preliminary Examination (qualifying in nature)
- Online Mains Examination (objective and descriptive)
- Interview
Shortlisting ratios
- Candidates numbering 10 times the vacancies in each category are shortlisted from the Preliminary exam for Mains.
- Candidates numbering 3 times the vacancies in each category are shortlisted from Mains for the Interview.
On 323 vacancies, that works out to roughly 3,230 candidates for Mains and about 970 for the Interview. These are indicative totals, since shortlisting is category-wise.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Signing in capital letters. Signatures and declarations in capitals are not accepted.
- Getting someone else to write the declaration. It must be in your own handwriting and in English, or the application is treated as invalid. If the handwriting is later found dissimilar on expert analysis, candidature will be cancelled.
- Mismatched names. The name on your application, call letter and ID must match exactly.
- Applying under the wrong category. Category cannot be changed later.
- Invalid certificates. Your reserved-category certificate must be valid on the day you register, and an EWS certificate must be valid for 2026-27.
- Leaving it to the last day. Server congestion is a real risk, and the Bank takes no responsibility for it.
- Changing your appearance. The Bank advises candidates not to change their appearance during the process, as photo mismatches at later stages can lead to disqualification.
- Signature mismatch. Your signature on the call letter and attendance sheet must match the one uploaded.
Rules Every Applicant Should Know
- Your candidature remains provisional at every stage. Receiving a call letter does not mean you are cleared.
- Applications cannot be withdrawn, and the fee is not refundable.
- Intimation is sent only through the registered email ID and mobile number, so keep them active. Providing an Aadhaar number or enrolment number in the application is optional.
- The Bank will analyse responses to detect abnormal similarity of answers. Candidates whose scores are found to be not genuine can have their candidature cancelled and results withheld.
- The Bank can cancel a candidature at any stage for ineligibility or false information. If this is detected after appointment, services are liable to be terminated.
- Using unfair means, impersonation or misbehaviour can lead to disqualification, permanent or temporary debarment from the Bank’s exams, and criminal prosecution.
- The Bank reserves the right to change or cancel any criteria or method of selection, and to hold a re-exam where it doubts the genuineness of a score.
- Legal disputes relating to this recruitment fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in J&K.
- Decisions of the Bank on eligibility, conduct of exams and selection are final and binding.
Preparation Pointers (Editorial)
These suggestions follow from the exam pattern, not from the notification itself:
- Do not neglect any section in the Prelims. Sectional cut-offs mean a strong score in one test cannot cover a weak one.
- Prioritise accuracy. With a one-fourth penalty for wrong answers, blind guessing costs marks, while blanks cost nothing.
- Practise written English. The Mains includes a 25-mark descriptive paper (essay and comprehension), which many aspirants underprepare.
- Build banking and current-affairs awareness. The Mains has a dedicated section covering economy, banking, digital and financial awareness, including RBI circulars.
- Take the Interview seriously. It carries only 20% weightage in the final merit, but you must score at least 40% (35% for reserved categories) to remain in the race.
- Be ready for exam travel. At least three of your six centre choices must be outside J&K.
