PULWAMA — Mehvish Altaf, a girl from southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district, topped the JKBOSE Class 10th exams in Kashmir by securing 100 per cent marks.

From Sonachakoo village of the district, the girl secured all 500 marks out of the stipulated 500.

Mehvish said she is thankful to Almighty Allah, for being able to secure such a percentage.

Mehvish, who aspires to become a doctor, credited her teachers and parents for her success. “My parents and teachers motivated me a lot. I believe hard work is the key to success,” Mehvish told The Kashmir Pulse.

Saying she is thankful to her teachers, the girl said her teachers played a very important role in her success. “My teachers helped a lot during the lockdown period when we had to switch to the online mode of studies. It was not easy to get accustomed to online mode, but teachers kept guiding us,” she said.

The teenager says she used to study for seven to eight hours every day. “I used to study for 7 to 8 hours. After coming from school, I used to take some rest and also help out in household work, then again I used to study till 10 PM in the night,” she adds.

Mehvish Altaf, however, said that she does not use social media and hence has no distractions.

Her father Altaf Ahmad Yatoo said he felt very proud after he got to know that her daughter has topped the exam with a 100% marks percentage.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Wednesday evening declared the Class 10th Results 2021 for Kashmir Division.
