Gunfight breaks out in Awantipora Pulwama

PULWAMA — A gunfight broke out between security forces and militants in south Kashmir Pulwama district, as per the J&K Police.

In a tweet on its official handle, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted that the gunfight broke out in Rajpora area in police district Awantipora.

“Encounter has started at Rajpora area of #Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the tweet read.

As per sources, the exchange of fire is on in the area and two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

It is in place to mention here that this is the second gunfight in Pulwama district within a span of 24 hours.

Earlier, two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed in a firefight in Gundipora area of the south Kashmir district.
